Giambattista Valli Couture Fall 2015

by Paige Reddinger

Rihanna, eat your heart out. Earlier this year, the siren famously wore a giant pink Giambattista Valli Couture gown to the Grammy Awards, and it was such a hit that Valli riffed on the look for his latest couture show. There were layers and layers of tulle, especially on the finale gowns like a sherbet-hued skirt, which filled nearly the entire black and white zigzag runway. In fact, chez Valli, orange was the new black, used to both embellish gowns and saturate  many of the models’ messy coifs. Speaking of the hair, guess who just went orange?

The show had a trippy vibe while maintaing Valli’s signature feminine flair. But this season, a more seasoned dame served as inspiration: Peggy Guggenheim was out in full force, thanks to oversized teardrop earrings, circular black sunglasses and wild prints. The influences spanned the decades, from twenties-style tiered dresses in disco silver to floral A-line frocks worn over matching pants to eighties-era party dresses. There were absolutely endless red carpet stunners that will delight young Hollywood; expect their stylists to get a bit competitive.
