Gabriela Hearst Spring/Summer 2018

by The Daily Front Row

The beauty was in the details at Gabriela Hearst this season. Take for instance the fact that the merino wool used in the collection comes from the sheep on Hearst’s farm in her native Uruguay or that Mark Twain’s polka dot bow ties and pocket watch inspired a navy polka dot dress with chain link details. Other natty gents that inspired her womenswear included Keith Richards, Chet Baker, George Best, and Miles Davis. A photo of the latter served as the starting point for a windowpane check suit. That pattern has been huge this season and last and this was surely one of its finest examples. In a season entirely inspired by the fellas, the suiting was this collection’s greatest hit.
