What happens when two fashion legends merge? We’re about to find out when NARS founder and creative director François Nars and photographer Steven Klein reveal the NARS Steven Klein collection. The limited-edition, 23-piece collection will be available in November, and will showcase new and innovative packaging, formulas, and shades.
“Steven is one of the most disruptive, fearless photographers of his time. I love his work, his ability to strip down and expose his subjects, to create shocking visual narratives that are never what they seem,” Nars said in a statement. Klein returned the compliment, saying: “I am honored to be asked by François to collaborate on this NARS project with him, based on the previous artists he had worked with—Andy Warhol and Guy Bourdin. I have always had the highest regard for François’ work. He was the pioneer of moving from one of the greatest makeup artists to creating great makeup. There are few hands that could do what François has done. He has impeccable taste and stands strong by his work. His colors and his eye for imagery is unique and of the highest caliber.”
The boys partnered with Fabien Baron of Baron & Baron to create the packaging and what they’ve described as “spontaneous elements.” We’re told more details will be revealed in the coming months. The collab isn’t such a stretch, with Rihanna currently working with MAC, Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian own their line of cosmetics, Kardashian Beauty, and even the blokes from One Direction collaborate with MUA on a makeup line. Why not invite one of the most famous photographers in fashion to the party? Now the speculation can begin on which gal will appear in his campaign. Paging Linda Evangelista.
