FIT Unveils the Future of Fashion

by Eddie Roche

It’s that time of year again when FIT holds its annual Future of Fashion Runway featuring work from the top students from the graduating class. Once again Calvin Klein Inc. sponsored the event with Calvin Klein himself in attendance alongside Shaun Ross, Ryan Leslie, Daniele Braga, Francisco Costa, Dennis Basso, Elie Tahari, Stefano Tonchi, Ken Downing, Tim Bryan, and Annie Georgia Greenberg. Last night’s show was hosted by Leandra Medine and featured award-winning looks in sportswear, special occasion, knitwear, intimate apparel, and the show-stealing childrenswear categories. The 2016 judges, who determined which looks made it to the runway, included: Annie Georgia Greenberg, Refinery 29; Lilliana Vazquez, TODAY contributor; Nicole Phelps, Vogue Runway; David Thielebeule, WSJ magazine style director; Jessica Torres, deputy editor of Siempre Mujer; and Downing, fashion director and SVP of Neiman Marcus.

Monday night is FIT’s gala at The Plaza, which will honor Dennis Basso with the Designer of the Year award, John and Laura Pomerantz with the Patrons of the Year award, and QVC with the Retailer of the Year Award. Expected attendees include Nicky Hilton, Hilary Rhoda, and Sean Avery, Tommy and Dee Hilfiger, Deborah Norville, Jill Martin, and June Ambrose.
