(NEW YORK) Nothing goes together quite like fast cars and handsome movie stars, hence all the excitement during the screening of the fall film Rush, hosted by Ferrari with The Cinema Society and Piaget. Last evening the lead actors gathered in quite fancy attire at the Chelsea Bow Tie Cinemas for the film, as did two Ferrari’s, which garnered as much attention as the celebs in attendance. Making a grand entrance were Chris Hemsworth and his film opponent Daniel Bruhl (don’t fret, the two played rather nicely with each other on the red carpet).
The likes of Courtney Love, Albert Hammond Jr., Kate Flannery, Nichole Galicia, Kelly Klein, Mariska Hargitay, Margarita Levieva, Sophie Sumner, Cory Bond, Tim Hunt and Dan Stevens stopped by for a viewing of the movie. The film, which was written by Ron Howard, proud owner of two Academy Awards, along with Peter Morgan, was centered on the Seventies Formula 1 rivalry between English hunk James Hunt and his Austrian rival Niki Lauda. The script was based on a true tale of the drivers, whose personal lives were just as fast paced as their time spent on the track.
Also starring in the film? Olivia Wilde, Alexandra Maria Lara and a whole lot of stylish clothes. Gucci dipped into their archives to dress both Wilde and Hemsworth, while Salvatore Ferragamo time-traveled to the Seventies to outfit Bruhl and Lara. Will life imitate art? Perhaps, as Hemsworth told The Daily, “I’m going to bring back the flare and the big lapels.” Hemsworth walked away with more than just an appreciation for Seventies style: “Gucci had these amazing blue leather jackets that I managed to steal when we finished shooting,” he confessed. Bruhl is a little more skeptical about wearing his period-piece duds in public, admitting that he bought a few of the Ferragamo jackets but doesn’t dare wearing them “because running around in Berlin in Seventies style clothes is a bit over the top.”
Après the screening, the after party was held on the rooftop of the Hotel Americano, where the cocktail du soir was D’USSE Cognac, where they were given cheeky names such as Lauda’s Libation and The Formula. All of which was clearly a formula for a great evening!
