W magazine appointed Sandra Ballentine as beauty editor at large, the magazine tells The Daily in an exclusive. Before joining the glossy full-time, Ballentine contributed feature articles to W, Vogue, and Departures, among other titles. Previously, she served as the beauty/style director of T: The New York Times Style Magazine. Ballentine joins W in her new role in September, and will work closely with beauty director Jane Larkworthy and executive editor Armand Limnander.
As a beauty/style director at T, she covered fashion, beauty, design, luxury, and produced “Profile in Style” features. Before that, she served as senior features editor at T, overseeing style coverage, conceptualizing, and editing feature stories. For W, Ballentine reported on beauty, the science behind it, and innovations. Some of her most recent features include an exploration of a Thai spa, the healing power of mud on a Slovakian island, and a new, high-tech at-home facial device.
She earned her B.A. from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
