The Eighties Revisited: Couture Goes Gaga for the Decadent Era

Adieu, ’90s. Fashion is fond of revisiting eras, but designers really went wild for the golden days of the ’80s at the haute couture shows in Paris. Eat your heart out, Joan Collins! Enormous bows and peplums, satin and sequins, even denim (mon dieu) were having their moment in the spotlight again after reaching their pinnacle during the Dynasty years. Even the hair at Jean Paul Gaultier came crimped and teased to the hilt. Is this what’s to come in 2017? (Well, if fashion reflects politics…) But let’s face it—we’d love to don that emerald  Zuhair Murad number.
