Edward Leida Scores New Gig As VP Design Director At Barneys

(NEW YORK) Edward Leida, formerly design director at Town & Country, has left the media game to join the retail scene. His new title? Vice president design director for Barneys New York. His departure from T&C  was unexpected, as the veteran designer spent two years with the society magazine. During his stint at Town & Country he was responsible for a major redesign, putting an edgy spin on everything from the sidebars to the logo.

The design pro has a prolific background in the industry, including the quarter century he spent at Fairchild Publications, including a sizeable stinty as design director for W. Leida left W in March of 2011, just one short month after Stefano Tonchi was appointed as the editor-in-chief. The award-winning designer is known for redesigning titles such as W, Details, and Jane, leaving big shoes to fill for his predecessors. The new gig reunites him with former W colleauge Dennis Freedman.
