Ever the graceful gentleman, Edward Enninful spent much of his acceptance speech for Magazine of the Year for British Vogue thanking his team and contributors. The editor noted that his successful vision for the magazine would not be possible without his scores of talented contributors. But there was one person in particular that Enninful wanted to highlight: the late Peter Lindbergh.

“When news reached me that Peter had so suddenly passed away I was devastated,” he said of the photographer, who died earlier this week. “We last worked together on the September issue with the Duchess of Sussex. That special issue also featured a unique 15-part cover, featuring two of my favorite people in the world, Yara [Shahidi] and Adut [Akech]. At 74, Peter was still in his prime, producing some of the best shoots of his career and making women feel incredible and connecting with magazine readers like no other. I have been lucky enough to work with Peter Lindbergh over the years, and I’m even more lucky to have been able to call him a friend. Fashion lost one of the true greats this week. This one’s for you, Peter.”
