Who: GUESS was established in 1981 by the Marciano brothers, who traded the South of France for Southern California and used their European sensibility to reimagine American denim. Bloomingdale’s was the first department store to embrace the fledgling brand, ordering two dozen pairs of jeans, which proceeded to sell out in a matter of hours. Today, Guess is a global lifestyle brand creating everything from watches to fragrance to ready-to-wear.
Why: Last month, when Jennifer Lopez kicked off her “It’s My Party” tour, Guess announced a capsule collection of merch. While the entire collection is cute, this distressed denim jacket featuring a pop art-style graphic of Lopez is certainly a standout. All of the tees from the capsule have a retro feel, using vintage-inspired fonts and colors. Way cooler than your standard tour merch!
