What: Star Wars-themed fashion, straight from the runway.
Etro Spring 2020 (firstVIEW)
Who: Gerolamo “Gimmo” Etro founded his eponymous house as a textile company in 1968. By the 1980s the paisley jacquard had become a staple of the brand, which had expanded into leather goods and home furnishings. By the ’90s the brand was showing its ready-to-wear collections at Milan Fashion Week.
The house has remained a family business, and today is run by Gimmo’s four children: Veronica, creative director of the womenswear collection; Kean, creative director of the menswear collection; Jacopo, creative director of the accessories, leather, textiles, and home collections; and Ippolito, the general director.
Why: Honestly, Star Wars is loads of fun, and requires no explanation for the joy it brings to many. Etro’s capsule — which focuses on the original trilogy — made it’s debut on the Spring 2020 runway. Kean Etro designed the unisex collection out of a personal love for the series.
The entire line features a hoodie, a crewneck sweatshirt, two shirts, five tees, and a bomber jacket all featuring digital prints taken from frames of ’70s and ’80s films. It also has smaller items like socks, a hat, and a leather wallet. Check out all the pieces below.
