Editor’s Pick: Nicole Miller’s Custom Denim Jackets

by The Daily Front Row

What: A limited edition denim jacket custom embroidered by Nicole Miller herself.

Who: Nicole Miller launched her eponymous line in 1982 after studying fashion design at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris. Designed in New York City, today her collections include everything from clothing, shoes, and jewelry, to activewear, home, kitchen, and bath products and can be found all over the world.

Why: There are only 24 pieces available in total, with each one created custom and embroidered personally by Nicole Miller in her Midtown Manhattan atelier. Consumers are able to choose between three different colorways for the main dragon motif embroidered on the back of the jacket — gold, silver, or pink — with Miller adding unique patches to complete the look.

The idea for the jackets came when Miller — who has recently became enamored with her new Brother embroidery machine — custom embroidered a handful of denim jackets for her close celebrity and blogger friends when traveling to LA on a recent business trip. The jackets were so well received that the designer decided to create a capsule collection to share with her consumers.

With each jacket purchase, Miller will include a handwritten note to make the experience even more personal.
