Dubai to New York: The Rise of Model Dariana Polushina

by Maria Williams

The global fashion market would be able to generate revenue amounting to $770.90 billion in 2024, with a projected market volume of $1,183 billion by 2029, according to statistics. This rapid growth is due to the increased demand for sustainable and ethical fashion as well as the rise of e-commerce and social media, which have changed how fashion is consumed and marketed across the globe. As the industry continues to evolve, models like Dariana Polushina are at the forefront of this evolution. With Dariana’s planned relocation to New York, the fashion capital of the world will experience another wave of style and glamour, with Dariana introducing her unique perspective and talent to the industry.

Dariana’s journey from being turned down in Russia to being featured on call sheets for renowned designers is one that demonstrates persistence and belief in oneself. She has also showcased her talent through exclusive partnerships with big names in the business, such as Dior, Giorgio Armani, and Givenchy, over the years. Her success is attributed to her ability to capture what a brand represents.

This account of Dariana’s life shows us someone who refused to give up amidst the challenges she faced along the way. From Dubai all the way to today, her every step is about devotion to what she loves doing through thick and thin. If we dig deeper into this story, we can find out those moments that led her to success or uncover the secrets behind her long-term popularity within the fashion world.

As chromed glass giants under Dubai’s blazing sun glared down towards the city streets below, Dariana was inside a modern apartment with sleek design, methodically flipping through pages of her portfolio. Her eyes, the color of a stormy sea, held a steely glint of determination. She wasn’t the same hopeful applicant who had faced endless rejection in Russia. This was Dariana, who now appeared on call sheets for fashion royalty. “Nothing can hinder your success if you are truly passionate about your work,” Dariana says. “The most important thing is continuous development and a desire to be better than you were yesterday. Go above and beyond, be authentic, and, of course, be communicative. This is the key to success in any field.”

Dariana’s journey was not an express train but rather a marathon towards self-discovery and development. It is her sheer tenacity, punctuated with iconic collaborations, that has led her to be at the top of her modeling career, earning more than her peers in the industry. “My salary is above average compared to other international models working in the United Arab Emirates, and my booked shootings are scheduled for months in advance,” she says.

Dariana’s early days in the modeling industry were far from glamorous. No less than 50 rejection letters from Russian agencies due to her “minimal model height” might have broken her spirit. But Dariana didn’t let it weigh her down, unlike most people would have done. She channeled this negative energy into making herself better by refining her skills and embracing these very traits that made her unique among other models. “I succeeded in the fashion business due to my talent, faith in myself, and my dream,” Dariana recalls. This self-possession resonated with the right people, eventually leading to contracts with prestigious organizations like Five Twenty Five and Signature Element.

Dubai catapulted Dariana into international fame. In this place where bright lights shine and luxury thrives, she flowered. Different fashion houses, such as Dior and Giorgio Armani, noticed this enchanting presence in themselves. Working with these fashion houses, therefore, meant you were considered super talented by all accounts. As the face of Giorgio Armani’s Ramadan collection in March 2023, Dariana brought the campaign to life in a way that resonated with people around the world. “After my success with the Giorgio Armani brand in 2023, major Emirati online publications, a year later under Ramadan, began to publish our filmed story in different magazines,” she recalls. “The biggest reflection of my expertise is that work with famous fashion houses in the fashion industry did not end with one-time shoots for these brands.” In fact, once she established her supremacy in the industry, she secured herself a coveted return engagement with Dior and Chanel.

Despite working with some of the world’s most recognized brands for haute couture, such as Dior, Givenchy, and Giorgio Armani, Dariana has also featured in advertisement campaigns for Bloomingdale’s, The Giving Movement, LC Waikiki, and Madinat Jumeirah Living. Her editorial portfolio includes shoots for popular magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia, A&E, Sayidaty, and Gheir. All these collaborations are clear indications that she is a veritable force to be reckoned with in the fashion world.

In the course of her career, Dariana has been playing a very decisive role, helping the brands she supports succeed. She worked as an ambassador for Daisy Knit, a Siberian brand that, through her sales skills, was able to increase sales dramatically, which in turn showed her marketing ability and her influence. Her collaboration with Jeel and Bareface modeling agencies, which are regarded as the bastions of elite models, provides further evidence of her credibility in the industry.

In recognition of her numerous contributions in the modeling world, Dariana was recently honored with the title of “Model of the Year in the Premium Brands Segment” at the National Business Awards, the UK’s top-tier, cross-industry award celebrating business excellence. This accolade underscores her influence and leadership in the modeling domain, cementing her position as a trailblazer in fashion.

Nonetheless, Dubai had no place for Dariana’s dreams. The energy sizzling in the air and the feverish tempo of New York City beckoned to her as a new challenge. She is determined to make her mark on the global fashion scene.

“My immediate plans include a successful move to the U.S. to continue my career with major international brands and fashion houses in the States,” Dariana reveals as she looks forward to solidifying her status as a global fashion icon. “I also plan to increase my personal brand awareness, win even more advertising contracts, and acquire a cozy little studio in downtown New York for myself and my dog.”

Dariana Polushina’s story testifies to how tough resilience, self-assurance, and a constant search for excellence can be. As she moves to the U.S. to start a new chapter in her life, the fashion industry eagerly awaits Dariana’s new peaks. We have yet to fill our imagination with images of forthcoming campaigns, revolutionary alliances, and cherished ideas that are sure to appear in the fashion capital of the world when it comes to this rising star.
