Dolce & Gabbana Takes Over Harrods

by Paige Reddinger

Dolce & Gabbana has taken over Harrods in London for the holidays. The partnership which runs now through December 28th includes an exclusive collection designed by Dolce & Gabbana for Harrods that will span menswear, womenswear, childrenswear, and accessories. Of the latter, an exclusive pair of sunglasses have been designed for the store, which are crystal encrusted with a semi-lunar shape and dark blue lenses. Plus, the store will have a painter on hand to customize the brand’s new Sicily bag. And a special pop-up will be devoted to the brand’s jewelry and watches and will include special rooms for private appointments. Every floor of the department store will be decorated according to Dolce & Gabbana, including an Italian market with flowers, fruits, vegetables, toys, and other gastronomic delicacies that have been themes in recent Dolce & Gabbana collections. The market will be adorned in lights and have installations inspired by the famous hand-painted Sicilian market carts.

Outside the window displays on Brompton Road an Hans Crescent were inspired by the Sicilian puppet theatre and give glimpse into the Italian house’s idea of la dolce vita. Marionettes of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are the protagonists in each window scene and can even be found perched atop the entrance to Harrods. And those swinging by to eye the Harrods tree will find a Dolce & Gabbana-decorated tree with gold ribbons and colorful lights just outside of door five on Hans Crescent.
