Dior Debuts Pink and Red Couture Capsule Collection In Shanghai

by Charles Manning

Couture capsule collections are now officially a thing following Dior’s stunning restaging of their spring 2018 couture show in Shanghai today.

“The house celebrates its special connection to China with the spring-summer 2018 haute couture show in Shanghai,” wrote Dior in a statement. “Inspired by the surrealist movement and presented in January at the Musée Rodin in Paris, this collection sees the addition of twelve new designs for the occasion. An object of refinement, the fan influenced the creation of these exclusive looks designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the Artistic Director of the Dior women’s collections.

“In an additional homage to China, Maria Grazia Chiuri offers several of these looks in red. A symbol of good fortune, along with being a favorite hue of the founding couturier who described it as “the color of life” in his Little Dictionary of Fashion, it graces ball gowns as well as a tuxedo with a pleated cape.
