Devilish Good Times at The Watermill Center's Fête

by The Daily Front Row

(WATERMILL) If the world’s top fashion darlings are going to trek to the Hamptons for a benefit, you’d best believe they’re going to want a show out of it. Do dozens of nearly nude bodies, covered in colorful paint strokes a show, count as a show? Such was the scene at the Water Mill Center’s 20th Anniversary fundraiser. Attendees including Lady Gaga, Winona Ryder, Stefano Tonchi, Hugh Jackman, Lindsey Wixson, Rick Owens, Robert Wilson, Eddie Borgo, Lisa Marie Fernandez, Harry Brant and Genevieve Jones  donned sinfully-themed attire. The dress code? Devil’s Heaven.

During cocktail hour, Bill Cunningham flitted about in his iconic blue coat snapping photos of the various devil horns and stilettos that weren’t quite ideal footwear for the wooded path peppered with eerie performance artists. The (not so) welcome committee included a poor fellow stuck on a bungee cord, a choir of angelic individuals screaming, and a petite femme in a silk dress thrashing around in water with two heavy chairs.

Guests sticking around for din were then whisked away to a white tent for dining and dancing. Then, the silent auction winners were announced. Lady Gaga certainly did some damage, taking home works from Marina Abramović and Dieter Meier. It’s time to start assessing those art collections now to figure out next year’s bids, chicsters!
