Darcy Miller Toasts Her New Book, Celebrate Everything!

by Sydney Sadick

Darcy Miller—founding editor of Martha Stewart Weddings—just launched her latest solo project: a tome titled Celebrate Everything! that spotlights her iconic party-planning skills. From tips and inspiration to DIYs (Darcy-it-Yourself) and DITs (Do-it-Together), the pages are packed with everything you need to know to throw your next shindig. Inside, Miller also looks back at some of her favorite parties (there’s no shortage of them—she’s helped out celebs including Drew Barrymore and Blake Lively) and shares the inspiration behind them.unnamed-4

Last night, Miller hosted her very own party to celebrate the book, which launched yesterday, at Jonathan Adler’s Upper East Side showroom. “No one’s more fun than Jonathan Adler. I love his brand because it’s elegant and chic but whimsical and fun, which is how I like to think of my brand,” Miller told us. “I wanted to do something that feels like you’re inviting people into your home, and the showroom, with all he furniture, kind of feels like a home without actually having people in my own living room! It’s all about celebrating.” Those from the fashion crowd who came out included Carolina Herrera, Bridget Moynahan, Dylan Lauren, Jill Kargman, Simon Doonan, Adam GlassmanFern Mallis, and Robert Verdi, all of whom enjoyed the perks, like Essie’s Celebrate Everything! nail polish, a gold wall for photo backdrops, mini Georgetown Cupcakes, and petite bottles of champagne, which were passed out with metallic straws.

We asked Miller what she considers to be the best party she’s ever thrown. “I think they’re all different and each [focuses on] the people you’re celebrating,” she said. “People ask me about the best wedding I’ve been to, and I’m like, mine, duh! I was marrying the person I love, with my family and friends!” As for whether the other hostess with the mostess Martha [Stewart] has gotten her hands on the book yet? “Of course! She wrote the forward. She’s in California tonight, but she’s been a big part of our celebration. In her forward, there’s a picture from my daughter’s first birthday, my parents’ anniversary, my wedding…she’s been part of a lot of our celebrations.”
