Coterie Buzz is your exclusive insight to this year’s fair. The show is on now at the Javits Center in Manhattan, and will run through February 27.

Coterie is finally here! The epic trade show kicked off on Monday with buyers eager to see new collections. The expansive show floor was packed with booths. Some vendors pulled out all the stops to grab attention — Alexis Bittar had a gold-plated pickup truck; Alice + Olivia had animatronic butterflies; and AG Jeans by Adriano Goldschmied had a full-service bar.

First-time Coterie exhibitor Christopher Belt of Christopher Belt and Harrian was surprised at the level of traffic his booth received. “I wasn’t expecting to be bombarded by buyers at 9:01,” he said. “We have not stopped since then. It’s all been putting it out, merchandising, figuring out how to buy it…. This is the closest thing to a break that we’ve had.”

“It quickly flooded, which was great!” Concurred Leigh Moose of Beck Bags. “We were here super early, so we were kind of nervous. [But] all day it’s just been a great response to the bags. It’s been a great flow of folks coming through for everyone so that’s been good. We’re getting great response.”

So what are some of this season’s biggest trends? Color, color, color! Walking the floor guests will be excited by the patterns and hues leaping from the booths. Looser fits, wrap dresses, and denim were also popular.

The day ended with a champagne toast and a panel hosted by the Daily. A riveted crowd listened as Danielle Bernstein, Aliza Licht, Grace Atwood, Alex Dickerson, and William Graper discussed how to work with influencers and how brands can expand their reach.
