Costume National Pairs Up With Marina Abramović

by Alexandra Ilyashov

Costume National is collaborating with performance artist extraordinaire Marina Abramović on Art of Elysium’s gala in L.A. on January 10. The organization brings creative folks (including plenty of Hollywood types) to work on artistic projects at children’s hospitals. How will Abramović  be involved, exactly? She’s working with longtime pal, Costume National’s creative director, Ennio Capasa, on the gala’s “interactive artistic experience”. The theme: heaven. Expect “a state of consciousness where light and dark meet” from the experience.

“I was eagerly awaiting the right moment to work with Ennio and Costume National. Ennio and I do different things, but somehow we manage to connect with people in the same way.”

Capasa will deck out Abramović in his designs for the occasion, and there will be a preview of Costume National’s Pre-Fall collection at the bash.

“Collaborating with Marina is a dream! She is a magic woman, a great friend and a unique artist, with profound human insight and sensitivity,” Capasa said in a statement. “The idea of a creative energy that is both radical and simple is our common language, and I am thrilled and curious to see what arises when our two worlds meet.”
