Dear Olivier Rouesting,

Don’t get us wrong—we adored the fact that you orchestrated a performance of the Backstreet Boys for last night’s epic H&M x Balmain launch. However! Watching a quintet of thirtysomething gents rock those ’90s-era dance moves was just a tiny bit awkward. (And also, amazing.) But because we like the sentiment, a few other acts you should consider for your next event:

VANILLA ICE: In September, Robert Matthew Van Winkle (real name alert!) toasted the 25th anniversary of “Ice Ice Baby.” Feel old yet? Bonus: he once collaborated with Naomi.

MARCY PLAYGROUND: “Sex and Candy” is essentially what Balmain is selling, non?

EN VOGUE: If only for the name!

LOS DEL RIO: Dale a tu cuerpo alegria Macarena?

THE MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES: Thanks to Clueless-related mania, we’re predicting a revival for these ska-core cuties.

HANSON: Weren’t these guys kind of like the original JoBros? #mmmbop

LISA LOEB: Enough with the eyewear hawking—someone give this woman a guitar.

THE COUNTING CROWS: Calling all Kate Hudson fans! But seriously, nobody’s gonna protest an acoustic rendition of “Mr. Jones.”

98 DEGREES: In case you totally blew your budget…

XOXO,
Your Daily

UPDATE: This post has been edited to reflect that the group is a quintet, not a quartet, and that this was merely a performance, not a reunion, because the band has been together and touring all along. Our bad!

Dear Ashley Baker, just a few corrections to the above. The Backstreet Boys are a quintet, since there are five of them (a quartet is four, FYI). Some of the boys are in their forties (and they look amazing). Finally, this wasn’t a reunion, as the boys are very much together and just recently wrapped up their latest tour. You might want to stick to covering fashion, if that is your job. I have no idea. I just came here for the Backstreet Boys :).

Hanson is actually on a mostly sold out tour right now so I doubt they would be able to attend. I’m just a troll educating the world that Hanson still exists. Still making music and still selling out venues.
