Coach 1941 Spring/Summer 2018

by The Daily Front Row

Paved with glitter, the models at coach came down the New York City pavement in mixture of slinky silk ’30s dresses with lace detail mixed in with Western rockabilly pieces. But this was, in fact, an ode to the famed ’80s graffiti artist Keith Haring. How so? Haring’s influence could be picked up in his iconic squiggly lines that adorned dresses like the one worn by Winnie Harlow or in his figures that were painted in white onto a pair of black boots or on some forest green leather bags—all of this was made possible by Keith Haring’s foundation, who Stuart Vevers thanks in the show notes.

There were plenty of looks for the “pretty little something on the New York streets.” Vevers cited that line from A Tribe Called Quest’s 1993 release “Electric Relaxation”. The song title also describes the collection to a T–cool party dresses with an easy edge topped off with statement outerwear for all the downtown babes.
