Kidults, attention please: Coach launched a collaboration today that very well could make all of your Disney dreams come true. Enter the Disney and Coach Mickey Mouse Collection, a limited range of Coach leather goods and ready-to-wear featuring Mickey Mouse designs. The collection launched this morning exclusively at the brand’s Soho digs, where Mickey Mouse was on display head-to-toe in the chicest and most tasteful of ways.
“Mickey Mouse is one of my earliest memories of American pop—his nostalgic charm, cheekiness, individuality, and inherent cool make for the ultimate American icon,” said Coach creative director Stuart Vevers in a press release. “I’ve always seen Mickey as a playful rebel at heart and a timeless symbol of joy and creativity. That spirit reinforces the new youthful perspective we are bringing to luxury at Coach.”
The collection is part of a series of limited-edition products that commemorate Coach’s 75th anniversary (can you believe it?) and American pop culture. Disney animators created sketches for the designs, with exclusive artwork appearing on T-shirts, Coach staple bags like the Dinky and Saddle, as well as sneakers featuring Mickey’s signature ears. And let’s not forget those adorable collectible pieces, like the oversize black leather Mickey dolls and shearling beanbags.
“This collaboration brings together two iconic brands in fresh, yet timeless designs that celebrate the heritage and style of both Mickey and Coach, ” said Josh Silverman, EVP global licensing, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media, in a statement. “This incredible collection is sure to delight the fashion world and Disney fans alike.”
Love magazine editor-in-chief Katie Grand, a friend and collaborator of Vevers, is curating the Soho store for the project. To celebrate the launch, Vevers designed a special Coach/Love T-shirt and tote featuring a totally punky and bedazzled Mickey.
