Claudia Schiffer Literally Makes A Public Appearance

by Eddie Roche

Original you know what Claudia Schiffer hit the Public hotel last night to sign copies of her new Rizzoli coffee table book aptly titled, Claudia Schiffer. The hardcover book celebrating her legendary career features a foreword by Ellen von Unwerth, and the work of photographers Richard Avedon, Arthur Elgort, Steven Klein, Herb Ritts, and Mario Testino. She took a break from Sharpie duty to answer a few questions for The Daily.

Why did you feel it was the time to do this type of book?
It’s my 30th anniversary this year and I thought, I need to have a book! I contacted Rizzoli and then started looking through my favorite pictures. It was a really fun and enjoyable process, except some of the negatives were missing. We obviously didn’t have digital! Sometimes it took a long time for the photographers to find them in their archives. Sometimes we couldn’t find them at all. I love the finished product.

Was it a nostalgic experience going through this?
Very much so! Every story has a memory. I remember something particular in every photo. It was very hard choosing and downgrading into the pages in the book.

What’s next for you?
Continuing with the fashion products I’m doing now like my makeup line [in collaboration with Artdeco Cosmetics}, and we just launched shoes with Aquazzura. The highlight was our own window at Saks Fifth Avenue!
