Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2015

by Daniel Chivu

It takes someone as talented as Raf Simons to create collections season after season that look fresh and new and yet…still wearable. Simons couture show for Dior this season was full of masterful pieces that the .001 percent of women who can afford to buy these clothes will no doubt be rushing to buy. They have probably already placed their orders and scheduled their fittings.

The fantastic white floor-length gowns had a medieval, romantic quality to them. Their purity was sometimes off-set by chain link vests worn on top. Then there were the coats. These came mostly in cape form, but many sported just one belled fur sleeve. Others came in full-on leather and then there were some more classic versions like a particularly stunning shade of red on full-length coat with slightly belled sleeves. Then, of course, there were the florals, which have become a constant motif for Simons. The backdrop was again a floral spectacle with lavender grass as the runway. The fleur-themed pieces like ankle-length swing dresses with big bell sleeves and much sexier slimmer versions that slit all the way up the thigh on both sides were divine. Oh, to be able to afford Dior haute couture!
