Virgine Viard Makes Her Couture Debut at Chanel
Virginie Viard, Karl Lagerfeld’s successor at Chanel, presented her first couture collection in Paris this morning. The show was set in a grand library, but the collection itself was rather modest. Many of the house codes were present — tweeds, boxy silhouettes, patch pockets — but Viard exhibited a restraint that, at times, felt a little dull.

Kim Kardashian to Rename Shapewear Line
After a wave of backlash, Kim Kardashian has announced that she is changing the name of her “Kimono” shapewear line. “Being an entrepreneur and my own boss has been one of the most rewarding challenges I’ve been blessed with in my life,” she wrote on Instagram. “When I announced the name of my shapewear line, I did so with the best intentions in mind. My brands and products are built with inclusivity and diversity at their core and after careful thought and consideration, I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name.”

L’Oreal to Buy Mugler and Azzaro From Clarins (Business of Fashion)
Clarins Group is in talks with L’Oréal to sell the Mugler and Azzaro perfume brands. “The perfume category is at the heart of our global strategy for growth at L’Oréal Luxe. In this context, we would be thrilled to welcome Mugler and Azzaro,” Cyril Chapuy, president of the L’Oréal Luxe division, said. “These signatures, with a long history in fashion and olfaction, would perfectly complete our portfolio of brands.”

Gigi Hadid, Halima Aden, and More Attend IMG Fashion Camp
A number of fashion insiders gave talks at IMG’s annual Fashion Camp last weekend. Gigi Hadid and her manager, Luiz Mattos, discussed the importance of managers to models; Halima Aden hosted a roundtable on breaking barriers in the industry; Lucky Blue Smith discussed what it was like to grow up in the limelight; and Devon Windsor gave runway tips.

But it wasn’t just models that attended: stylist Karla Welch gave tips on putting together various looks with clothes from Goodwill. Hair stylist Lacy Redway and makeup artist Vincent Oquendo gave hair and makeup tutorials, respectively. Christelle de Castro gave a photography workshop, and designer Christian Cowan shared how he balances creativity and authenticity.

Inez & Vinoodh Lens Michael Kors’ Latest Campaign
Dutch photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot Michael Kors’ Fall 2019 inside a New York mansion. “For Fall, we wanted to capture the eclectic glamour of the runway collection,” says Kors. “[The] campaign offers an inside peek into the lives of today’s luxury jet setters. The rich layers of private life and romance found in the images complement the mood, chic and drama of our Fall collection.”
