WHAT: Sophia Webster Yayoi Patent-Leather and Suede Sandals…WHY: Girly-girl approved! Sophia Webster’s Daria slingbacks were inspired by the signature polka dots of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. That kid-in-a-candy-store effect is kind of inevitable with this punchy pair, so why not bring out your feminine side with a palette of shiny canary yellow, tangerine, and bubblegum pink. Perhaps you should pass on the matching tutu with this outfit…AVAILABLE: $635, Net-A-Porter.com…

The 70th annual Golden Globes was a particularly boozy one, with some actors forgetting exactly what award they were presenting (ahem, Salma Hayek) and others butchering the name of the designer they were wearing (Kevin Dior, anyone?). But amidst the mayhem, many of the celebrities shined in their designer duds, and of course, others didn’t quite hit the mark. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were dead-on with their comedy, and seemed to choose comfort on the red carpert–Poehler in a Stella McCartney black tuxedo number with cropped pants and Fey in a calf-length L’Wren Scott strapless dress with black lace. Then there was comedienne Lena Dunham, dressed in an eggplant off-the-shoulder Zac Posen gown, whose labored trek to the stage was a tad awkward. As Dunham candidly put it, “My stylist keeps telling me to pull the dress down and then shove it to the left. For some reason my breasts have a tendency to sort of shove my dress to the right and I have to fight it back to the left.†Noted.
Uncork the vino! The 2013 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation winners have been revealed, and we’re guessing some serious rounds of libations are in order. Tome, the NYC-based brainchild of stylist Ryan Lobo and former Derek Lam design director Ramon Martin, took home top honors for women’s design while Ian Velardi, purveyor of neo-Americano menswear, scooped up best men’s design. Meanwhile, Cornell-educated Susan Woo scored kudos for sustainable design, and Deborah Pagani, known for her deco-rock baubles, secured the win for accessories design. Each winner will receive a $25,000 grant to use towards a New York Fashion Week presentation in February.
The Swatch Group got hitched today to Harry Winston, plucking up the über luxe bauble purveyor for $750 million, pending regulatory approval on the deal. The Swiss firm, perhaps best known for its affordable, colorful watch selection, was purportedly willing to dole out up to $1 billion for the purchase. Swatch will now helm Harry Winston’s jewelry and watches business, an outfit comprised of a Geneva production company and 535 employees, as well as up to $250 million in net debt.
