Country superstar and big-time American Idol winner Carrie Underwood is the latest celeb to announce participation in New York Fashion Week. Partnering with Dick’s Sporting Goods, she’ll unveil Calia by Carrie Underwood, a fitness/lifestyle line available at the athletic retailer. Her presentation will take place on September 10th at The HQ—a new venue that functions as a NYFW headquarters and holds events—with a popup where attendees can purchase items from her collection.
“I’ve been a spectator at Fashion Week a few times,” Underwood told WWD, “but this is the first time I’ll be involved.” She also shared that her inspiration for creating an insta-collection, shopable just moments after it appears on the runway, is due in part to her impatience and having to wait to get her hands on what she saw on the runways. Pieces in the line are made using a fabric technology called Bodywarm to guard against cold and retain body heat, and includes capris and pants that average $60 to $85 retail and tops, $30 to $35. Some not so shocking news? Underwood will also curate the soundtrack for her presentation.
