Carine Roitfeld Covers Marie Claire Japan

by Kristen Heinzinger

What’s new in the world of Carine Roitfeld? So much! Her hautely-anticipated collection for Uniqlo graces stores tomorrow just as her cover for Marie Claire Japan hits newsstands. Synergy! And the Harper’s Bazaar global fashion director has also been working away on her latest feature for the glossy, in which she gives nautical life the royal treatment. Oversized feathers, wide-brimmed hats, stripes, headscarves, and capes abound in photos shot by Felix Cooper, with creative direction by Stephen Gan.

“For this story I was inspired by pirates and princesses, part Vivienne Westwood fashion, and part fairy tale costume, like the ones seen on Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley in Pirates of the Caribbean…It is a dream of adventure and buried treasures full of diamonds worn on lovely girls: in this case, real-life Hollywood princess Gabriella Wilde, and my new girls Bentley, Ally Ertel, Cierra Skye, and Briley Jones,” said Roitfeld. Enjoy the story here and be prepared to discover a few new model obsessions.
