Last week Calvin Klein dropped a new “I SPEAK MY TRUTH IN #MYCALVIN” campaign with a bevy of stars. But one ad, which features Bella Hadid kissing the CGI influencer Lil Miquela, has garnered a backlash online. Teen Vogue reports that many believed that casting Hadid, who is heterosexual, to share a same-sex kiss was queerbaiting.
The brand has since issued a statement apologizing for the ad, although it is still up on its Youtube page. See the full apology below.
Here at CALVIN KLEIN, we welcome all types of constructive feedback from our community. We see your comments and we appreciate them. We’d like to offer our thoughts in response to comments on our campaign video featuring Bella Hadid and Lil Miquela. pic.twitter.com/OIcIekyR9K
