The Blonds Fall/Winter 2016

Alice in Wonderland, meet Marilyn Monroe. That’s the direction The Blonds took with its Fall 2016 NYFW collection, and boy, was it pink. Fusing inspiration from the children’s classic with Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (naturally), the collection included the requisite sparkle and silhouette the label is famous for, as well as a few less body-hugging types that nailed the otherworldly/fairy tale motif. Prints were strong, including spades and hearts, florals, and gingham, which mixed with eclectic embellishments like floral applique, tulle, and fur. And of course, what would The Blonds show be without the beauty? Models wore pink-tinted dreads and femme-fatale red lips against milky white skin. Still, the look that stuck out most was the floor-length studded evening gown that closed the show. Sans the fingerless gloves, someone’s got an Oscars look.
