Billion-Dollar Chinese Menswear Brand Bosideng Lands Stateside

by The Daily Front Row

You’ve heard about fashion’s finest brands taking their wares over to China. But this time, it’s a Chinese brand making its Stateside launch. Bosideng, a lifestyle menswear brand known for its tailoring and suiting, opened a pop-up shop at the Union Square outpost of menswear store Rothmans. Bosideng was founded in East China by Dekang Gao in 1976 with 11 of Kao’s fellow farmers, eight used family sewing machines, and a bicycle. Today, the label has grown into a billion-dollar business. The brand is now designed by Amelia Pretious, who comes from the British luxury brand Crombie. On hand to fête the occasion? A slew of handsome gents like mods Matt Fox, Ryne Degrave, and Gavin Eastlack plus actors Taye Diggs and Matt Czuchry, E! Entertainment’s George Kotsiopoulos, and artist Jamel Robinson, who created the artwork that served as a backdrop for the occasion. Some lovely ladies showed up, too, like DJ’s Mia Moretti and Chelsea Leyland, the latter of whom provided the music as guests sipped on Peroni beer and cocktails from Brugal Rum and Owl’s Brew. Swing by Rothmans now through February 16th to check out the new merch!
