The Best of The Golden Globes 2017 Red Carpet

by Paige Reddinger

And the winners are…Louis Vuitton! Jenny Packham! Elie Saab! Chanel! Monse! While it wasn’t the red carpet’s best season, there were a handful of ladies who knocked it out of the park last night. Those who opted for a bit of drama while keeping it sleek and chic came out on top. Below is a list of our favorites.

Kristen Bell’s Jenny Packham gown, Jimmy Choo Vivienne clutch, Harry Winston jewels
The Bell of the ball! Kristen Bell owned the red carpet in her ultra-sexy sequined Jenny Packham gown with a plunging rectangular neckline. This is the best Miss Bell has ever looked on the tapis rouge.

Ruth Negga’s Louis Vuitton gown, Gemfields ruby cuff designed by Fred Leighton
Ruth Negga took a risk wearing an unconventional custom, metallic gown by Louis Vuitton that zipped down the front, and it paid off.  Although the dress was thoroughly modern, the star looked old Hollywood glam and had the perfect hair and makeup to match.

Jessica Biel’s Elie Saab Haute Couture gown, Salvatore Ferragamo heels
Now this is a dress made for a grand entrance. The plunging neckline, the high slit, the full dramatic skirt, paired with a sleek classic updo, Biel hit all the right notes in this chic number.

Evan Rachel Woods’ Custom Altuzarra tux, Neil Lane jewels
Brava! Evan Rachel Woods was channeling Marlene Dietrich in a custom tuxedo by Altuzarra to magnificent effect. This look was tailored to a T.

Millie Bobby Brown’s Jenny Packham gown, Sophia Webster sandals
Perfection. Millie Bobby Brown is the darling of Hollywood. While she’s best known for her Stranger Things character 11, Brown is turning 13 this year. Her Jenny Packham dress was youthful, glam, and age appropriate while feeling on the verge of being all grown up.

Amy Adams’ Tom Ford gown, Jimmy Choo heels
Tom loves a ginger! While Adams’ played it safe in her Tom Ford gown, her flame-colored locks were the perfect contrast to the square bodice strapless sequined gown.

Lily Collins’ Naaem Khan gown, Harry Winston jewels
Only a raven-haired youthful beauty with a vampy deep red lip could have pulled off this saccharine pink gown. Collins’ gown certainly wouldn’t have worked on most, but she pulled off this princess look as only Hollywood royalty could.

Riley Keough’s Chanel Haute Couture gown, Jimmy Choo Kaylee heels
Who could go wrong with Chanel Haute Couture? That being said, Karl Lagerfeld wouldn’t dare dress someone he didn’t think could carry his designs on the red carpet. Keough looked like the silver screen sirens of Coco’s era in this fantastic haute couture gown. It must be hard having to return a creation as beautiful as this the next day, non?

Brie Larson’s Rodarte gown, Forevermark jewels
Mon Dieu! That waist! On its own this dress wouldn’t necessarily be “a moment,” but on Brie Larson’s incredible figure, it stole the spotlight.

Jessica Chastain’s Prada gown, Piaget jewels
Chastain’s milky porcelain skin, her strawberry blond locks, and her voluptuous femininity were perfect in this revealing but classically beautiful baby blue gown from Prada.

Claire Foy’s Erdem gown, Fred Leighton jewels
Foy came prepared for a crowning achievement last night. The British actress wore a pink sequined gown with princess sleeves by London-based label Erdem, and looked positively regal. She took home the award for Best Television Series Actress in a drama for the Netflix series The Crown. We hope her Majesty is proud of her home-grown doppelgänger.

Emma Stone’s Valentino gown, Jimmy Choo Minnie heels, Tiffany & Co. jewels
It’s hard to go wrong with Valentino. Stone’s romantic nude star-studded gown was just the thing for an evening of accolade after accolade for La La Land. But it was Stone’s archival Tiffany’s necklace that shone brightest on Emma.

Michelle Williams’ Louis Vuitton gown
Michelle Williams is a devotee of Louis Vuitton, having starred in the brand’s ad campaign. The off-the-shoulder lace gown with a velvet black bow tie choker was quiet but pretty—a choice that plays perfectly with Williams’ off-screen public persona.

Zoe Saldana’s Gucci gown, Jimmy Choo Kaylee sandals
It’s not easy to make a frilly pink gown with a big silk lavender bow work on the red carpet, but Saldana can make any gown a star.

Thandie Newton’s Monse gown, Jimmy Choo Holly platforms, Harry Winston jewels
Thandie Newton’s off-the-shoulder Monse gown with just a hint of sequins on the skirt looked stunning when paired with her platinum diamond necklace of 47.66 carats from Harry Winston that draped across her shoulders and hung down her back.

Natalie Portman’s Prada gown, custom Jimmy Choo heels, Tomasini clutch, Tiffany & Co. jewels
Pregnant and glowing. Leave it to Portman to make red carpet maternity dressing look like a breeze. Her canary yellow Prada gown and ’60s style hair channeled Jackie O’s iconic style. Who better to represent Jackie Kennedy than Miss Perfect?

Nicole Kidman’s Alexander McQueen gown, Fred Leighton jewels
Let us remind you that Kidman is approaching 50, has birthed two children, and still has the figure of a supermodel. The statuesque beauty’s McQueen dress not only fit her like a glove, but was one of the more fashion-forward choices of the evening.
