Beauty Fix: The Only Thing Better Than Lady Gaga’s Hair at the Grammy Awards Was Her Makeup

by Julia Talisman

Lady Gaga stepped onto the red carpet at The 60th Annual Grammy Awards in a custom black lace Armani Privé gown. She accessorized with a pair of tiny white roses, to show solidarity for the Time’s Up movement, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Her dramatic dress and its over-the-top train made a major statement (we’d expect no less from Mother Monster!), but it was her hair and makeup that really turned heads.

Gaga’s hairstylist Frederic Aspiras used John Frieda products and a thin black ribbon to weave the pop star’s platinum locks into an intricate corset braid. “The look is romantic, seductive, Victorian inspired,” Aspiras explained on Instagram. Très chic!

Even better was Gaga’s stunning makeup look, created by Marc Jacobs Beauty Global Artistry Ambassador, Sarah Tanno. “Gaga’s eyes were inspired by a dark starry night. Romantic and striking,” Tanno explained.

To create the look, Tanno prepped Gaga’s skin with foundation, a touch of powder, and a soft veil of pink blush. She tapped a touch of highlighter onto the high points of Gaga’s face for a sheer, elegant glow.

After creating the perfect canvas, Tanno rimmed Gaga’s eyes with Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer, and then blended the liner all over lids. Next, she created a sharp, winged shape using Marc Jacobs Beauty Magic Marc’er Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Blacquer. Tanno then blended a shimmery peach shadow all the way up to the brow bone. She finished Gaga’s eyes with several coats of Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara and a few taps of loose silver glitter.

Tanno used Marc Jacobs Beauty Poutliner Longwear Lip Liner Pencil in Prim(rose) and a peachy-rose nude shade of lipstick to create Gaga’s pale pink pout. Perfection.
