Ansel Elgort, Anne Hathaway, Suki Waterhouse Come Out for ‘Baby Driver’ Screening

by The Daily Front Row

Ansel Elgort welcomed actors, directors, and models to the Metrograph last night to celebrate his role in new film Baby Driver, an action-packed heist film written and directed by Edgar Wright. Celebs like Anne Hathaway, Adrien Brody, Jennifer Morrison, and Suki Waterhouse came out for the screening, hosted by The Cinema Society and Avión Tequila.

The film boasts a star-studded cast including Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Eiza González Reyna, Jon Hamm, and Jamie Foxx. When asked who he was most excited to work with, Elgort told The Daily, “I’m a big fan of Jamie Foxx. I’ve only heard amazing things about him. I’d already worked with Kevin, so it’s no offense to Kevin! He’s a Grammy winner and an Oscar winner. I met him and he didn’t disappoint. He was the nicest guy. He immediately invited me to his house for dinner, to play basketball, and to hear my music.”

The movie has a soundtrack of jams, from The Beach Boys to Beck to Barry White and beyond. Wright explained before the screening that he came up with the idea for the film over 20 years ago when he heard the song “Bellbottoms” by Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the first song on the soundtrack. The music-driven film is perfect for Elgort, who just released his first single, “All I Think About Is You.”

After the screening, guests headed to the after-party at The Crown, the new rooftop at Hotel 50 Bowery, where they sipped on specialty Avión Tequila cocktails called Baby’s Escape and The Getaway as they soaked in the downtown views. Not a bad way to spend a Monday night!
