Anna Wintour And DvF Help Launch HIV Initiative, Bornfree

by The Daily Front Row

December 31st, 2015 will be a remarkable day in history, so mark your calendars. With the support of Anna Wintour, Diane von Furstenberg, and Shopbop, John Megrue is launching Bornfree, with a mission to abolish the transmission of HIV from mother-to-child by that date. Last night, a crop of designers assembled at DvF’s design studio to kick off the launch of the Bornfree collection, which will donate 100 percent of proceeds to the cause. The collection will offer clothes and accessories for both moms and their spawn, featuring prints created by 23 designers. The likes of Tamara Mellon, Tory Burch, Jenna Lyons, Vera Wang, Keren Craig, Georgina Chapman, and Liya Kebede stepped out to hear Samantha Power, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, speak on the company’s behalf. The most remarkable mission the company has planned? With the use of just one pill, 98 percent of HIV transmission from mother-to-child can be admonished. Prepare your credit cards: the collection hits Shopbop in Spring 2014.
