If you have warm weather and sunny skies on your mind, then you’ll be lusting after Victoria Secret model Alicia Rountree’s sweet escape in Mauritius. She gave an inside peek to Harper’s Bazaar, and dishes on the digs. Rountree was raised just outside Rivière des Anguilles on the southern coast of Mauritius, which she still calls home. In the glossy’s May issue, Rountree poses at her family’s home, modeling a Miu Miu swimsuit and Etro and La Perla ensembles in photos lensed by Matthieu Salvaing. The beauty, who is also a restauranteur (fun fact: she’s a co-founder of the Manhattan restaurant chain Tartinery) opens up about her tropical roots and the transition from growing up in a swimsuit to rocking one for her job. Some tidbits from the interview, below.
On the ease of life in Mauritius…
“When I’m in Mauritius I don’t need anything—just a bikini and T-shirt. It’s nice to have nice things, but it’s just about knowing you don’t need them.”
On her plans to move back to Mauritius one day…
“Growing up being outdoors all the time—it was such a healthy lifestyle. It would be stupid not to.”
On her healthy eating habits while in Mauritius…
“At home we eat fresh coconuts every day for breakfast. I miss that so much. I buy them in New York, but it’s not quite the same.”
