Alexander Wang is amping up his commitment to fashion’s new world order of see-now-buy-now, announcing today that he’s taking the approach to his Resort 2017 collection for the first time. The collection will be shown to buyers and press during market in June, per usual, but images and the full collection will be under embargo until the collection is delivered to stores in November. Plus, a selection of pieces from the Resort ’17 collection will be peppered throughout the Spring/Summer 2017 show in September for the first time, including ready-to-wear, bags, and shoes (Spring delivery will remain separate, in January 2017). According to an interview with WWD, Wang said he found success using the selling model with his men’s and T by Alexander Wang collections, and chose to bring it to Resort in anticipation of a similar effect. “…We have found that this shortened timeline between seeing the collection and it being available in stores creates a sense of immediacy and generates excitement at the retail level,” he said.
