Alexander Wang Fall 2015

by Alexandra Ilyashov

Completely noir and heavy on the attitude, Alexander Wang‘s latest collection was pretty goth-y, with tons of ball-chain trim, very boxy silhouettes, and a touch of red and black plaid. To differentiate things in an all-black collection, Wang toyed with texture (a velvet tux jacket, for example, or a great, curvy-seamed satin jacket and mini combo), and some cream knits that were especially cool, embedded with glimmers of ball-chain trim. Another touch of color came courtesy of a duo of super-silvery jackets, liquid-like in appearance, sporting huge black fur collars and slung over chain-mail dresses. Seriously sexy. On the coif-front, matted, lank strands tossed in front of the mods’ faces. On that note, the models drove the rebellious subculture trope home, looking dour and pissed-off, stomping so quickly down the runway in slightly scary, punky laced-up mid-calf platform boots, whiplash was sort of inevitable.
