Alexander Ludwig Talks Fashion, Perry Ellis and Getting Cast in The Next White Lotus

by Eddie Roche

Alexander Ludwig isn’t a household name just yet, but that’s about to change when the next version of The White Lotus hits television screens next year. Perry Ellis got in on the action early and enlisted the actor to be their latest Global Brand Ambassador and star in their new campaign. The Vikings and Heels star tells The Daily what the brand means to him and what it was like being cast in the HBO smash.

How did your new role as Global Brand Ambassador come about?
I was asked by the company to come on board and was incredibly humbled by the opportunity.

What has the brand meant to you over the years?
Perry Ellis has been one of those brands that has stuck in my head for years. I always remembered loving their clothes. It has always had this approachable yet confident style that I try to incorporate in my everyday life.

How would you describe your personal style?
I’m not afraid to try something new. However, I have basics that I always go back to or outfits that are my go to pieces when I am in a business setting or just want to feel good in casually. That’s where PE comes in, in a big way.

What would you never wear?
I have a limit to how much I’ll push the envelope. I’d say my style is more classic that way, so you can count me out of wearing a skirt over my jeans. But never say never, I guess.

The capsule collection is celebrates 50 years of Perry Ellis. Where do you see yourself in 50 years?
I have big goals, big aspirations that I don’t shy away from, however, I have learned that a lot of being successful at accomplishing these things is not drowning yourself in the heaviness of the future. To me, it’s about having that goal, then letting it focus on the day or even the moment that we are in. But beyond career stuff, and far more importantly, I just want to look back knowing I was the best father, husband, and friend I could be.

We know everything White Lotus related is top secret with the plot, but how did it feel to get the gig?
Euphoric. Like suddenly everything you worked so hard for for the last decade had begun to arrive. It’s a dream to work with such talented people on such incredible material.

How’s filming going?
It could not be going better. As a fan of the show, this will be one of, if not my favorite season. It’s a long shoot, but I have no leg to stand on complaining about being in the south of France for six months. A dream come true.
