10 Things You Don’t Know About…The Cut’s Stella Bugbee

by Sydney Sadick

If you’re a fan of The Cut, you’ve noticed the site recently unveiled a major redesign. In honor of the new look, Stella Bugbee, the site’s president and editor-in-chief, is the latest star of “10 Things.”

  1. I was born in New Mexico: It was a giant Mesa with no electricity or running water.
  2. I haven’t lived outside of New York: …since 1986
  3. I went to art school: I still draw all the time.
  4. I was featured in Sassy magazine in 1993: It was for writing poetry and saying I would never stop. I stopped about 12 months later.
  5. I’ve washed and moisturized my face every night of my life: …since I was 17.
  6. I wore a fake Cartier Tank watch for a year: This was in order to decide if I really wanted one. Turns I out I really wanted one.
  7. I worked at the very first juice bar in Manhattan: Vincent Gallo was a customer. One day he came in and told my coworker that he was a famous artist in the ’80s and we didn’t believe him.
  8. There’s only one board game I like and have won: It’s chess.
  9. I’m obsessed with talking animals: Like Babe the pig. Pretty much any bad commercial with a talking animal will make me laugh.
  10. I don’t require much sleep: I only need five hours of sleep a night.
