"White House Down" Takes A Jaunt Uptown

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Attention, action flick and/or Channing Tatum fans out there? Last night, Columbia Pictures, The Cinema Society, and Bulova hosted the NYC premiere of White House Down at the Ziegfeld Theatre. Adoring fans lined the streets around the theatre; the truly dedicated even rocked “Team Channing” shirts. The evening kicked off with an award-winning entrance by Jamie Foxx (who plays President James Sawyer in the film) arriving police-escort-and-secret-service-clad in the Presidential Limo modeled after the one in the film (bullet holes and all). Cast members including Tatum, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Richard Jenkins, Joey King, James Woods, Garcelle Beauvais, and Michael Murphy joined director Roland Emmerich for a tapis rouge stroll.

Want a teaser, cheris? The film follows Capitol Policeman John Cale (Tatum) as he becomes the president’s only hope of survival after a fateful visit to the White House for a Secret Service interview. Don’t worry, ladies, the shirt and tie eventually get cast aside. and the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. After a sudden turn of events, it becomes Cale’s sole mission to save the president, his daughter, and the country. We’ll leave the rest for you to see for yourself…

Guests such as Megan Hilty, Nigel Barker, Tasha Boue (Foxx’s stylist), and Dionne Warwick also joined the cast for the step-and-repeat and later for the after party at The Frick Collection. Surrounded by priceless masterpieces left and right, the Grey Goose cocktails were aplenty and a good time was had by all, unsurprisingly so. White House Down opens in theaters nationwide June 28th and is an inspiring and brilliantly crafted must see. God bless Amer…we mean, Tatum’s epic biceps.
