Urban Outfitters Winds Up Its Web Presence As Profits Soar

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) If there’s any doubt that digital shopping is driving revenues for fashion brands and retailers, look no further than Urban Outfitters. The youth-skewed retailer announced that direct-to-consumer sales totaled $240.5 million in their fourth quarter, equating to 28.1 percent of total sales.

As a result, the company plans to increase investments in online strategies by magnifying their marketing, fine-tuning their tech tools, and bringing new talent on board (presumably of the editorial variety). Urban Outfitters has turned to their retail locations to help ship their hipster duds in increasing numbers to consumers, as full-priced items are increasingly selling out the warehouse. And how about all of the madness over mobile? Sales via phones and tablets actually doubled to a whopping $25 million. Calling all app developers!
