Tracy Reese Spring 2015

by Daniel Chivu

It would be difficult to ignore the dance wear inspiration in this spring collection served up by Tracy Reese. After all, the collection was fully inspired by the dancer and choreographer Martha Graham. The influx of black leotards, however, was balanced by a dizzying array of colors: pale yellows, delicate pinks, jade greens, maroons, sea blues, and silky oranges were plentiful. An all-black dress was given dimension with structured pleating and a very deep V-neck. A buttercup yellow jumper and black leotard underneath could easily inspire one to dance. Even the champagne pink and black lace tea length gown will ignite a groove and a shimmy. All looks  lent a bohemian vibe, and there were practical touches to appreciate, too, like a strapless column gown sporting pockets. Garments that move beautifully on the body is something we can appreciate whether it’s a 9-to-5 gig, or the life of a bona fide ballerina.
