Tory Burch Launches Fellows Competition

by Kristen Heinzinger

Through her foundation, Tory Burch just launched the Fellows Competition for women entrepreneurs, which awards one business owner a 100k grant investment and all 10 finalists admission to a one-year business guidance program.

Next June, the fellows will partake in a three-day workshop at the company’s HQ, which will include mentorship and keynote speakers. For the grand prize, they’ll compete in a pitch competition before a panel of judges (sounds a bit like Shark Tank, albeit Ms. Burch will not walk away with a stake in the companies).

Earlier today, Burch gave an interview on CBS This Morning, where she said she wants to change women’s ideas about being ambitious. “Over the years I’ve really learned to take ownership of that word.”

A few notes on requirements: The startup cannot be a nonprofit, an international business, or more than five years old, and each applicant must manage the business day-to-day and own a majority stake. Think you fit the bill? Apply here, now through January.
