Tom Ford is giving the L.A. fashion scene some serious credibility: today, the designer announced that he’ll show his Fall 2015 collection on the West Coast in February. Ford has been a regular on the London Fashion Week calendar for the past few years. He debuted his womenswear collection in New York at an intimate presentation at his Madison Avenue flagship in September 2010; Julianne Moore, Lauren Hutton, and Beyoncé Knowles were a few of the marquee names who walked. What’s behind the westward move? “I have loved L.A. since I first moved there from New York in the early 1980’s,” Ford explains in a statement. “Richard [Buckley] and I have had a home there and divided our time between L.A. and Europe for the past 20 years and I have always felt a deep-rooted connection to the city. So many visuals in our world are filtered through Los Angeles including music, television, and film and in this way it influences global fashion in a profound way. Like fashion, film is also a creative endeavor that is extremely important to me. I am excited to bring these two aspects of my life together by presenting the collection in Los Angeles.” Ford’s 2009 directorial debut, A Single Man, was shot in Hollywood. The Spring collection is scheduled to show on February 20th, the first day of London Fashion Week, at an undetermined time and location. Looks like editors will be banking some major frequent flier miles next year…
