Tom Florio Is Out At Advanstar

by Dena Silver

The Daily has learned exclusively that after two years as the CEO at Advanstar Fashion Group, Tom Florio has left the company. He arrived at Advanstar’s trade show production arm from a consulting gig at IMG, after a long career in publishing at Condé Nast, culminating with his position as senior vice president and publisher at Vogue. Industry eyebrows were mildly raised when Florio took his position in the trade show realm, but the visionary executive had big plans to elevate the company’s ultra-established portfolio to even more glamorous heights. Some of these plans were implemented during his brief tenure. “It is true that I’m no longer the CEO of Advanstar Fashion Group,” Florio said today, when reached by The Daily. “Right now I have been working on a few important investment projects that I have a personal interest in, both for Advanstar and other partners. I had a wonderful time at the company and they are doing incredibly well.” When pressed to confirm whether or not he’s still affiliated with Advanstar, Florio said: “No, I am no longer affiliated with the company.”
