The Daily Davis: Fashion x Art With Jeff Koons, Marc Jacobs, Brian Atwood, Donald Robertson, And More

by Daniel Chivu

FIVE ELEVEN Presents Brian Atwood & Donald Drawbertson Book Signing & Auction to Benefit National MS SocietyUntil November 14th, you can buy the book and bid on the drawings that Insta-famous artist Donald Robertson created for shoe guru Brian Atwood, all being sold at Gavel & Grand. All proceeds from the book (in a limited edition of just 200, all printed in Italy) and the art will go to National Multiple Sclerosis Society. “It is a charity close to my heart because a member of my family was diagnosed with MS,” Brian tells me. “I am focused on raising awareness and money to erase the disease.”

Like all good things, the collaboration started over Instagram. Brian mailed Donald a giant box of his Fall 2014 shoes from Milan. “I started painting them the same day,” Donald says. “Because his shoes are so sexy and that he originally called me from Milan, I got a sexy sinner vibe. So I started painting his fringe boots with nuns and his CFM pumps on women in confession in church. I was like, there is no way he is going to go for this. I sent the whole pack of paintings off to him and he loved it instantly.”

PROJECT PERPETUAL Inaugural Dinner & Auction

Art and fashion make the sexiest, chicest couple. Make sure to book it over to the lobby of the Seagrams Building to see Jeff Koons’ sculpture “Gazing Ball (Charity)”, which incorporates three Hermes bags donated by Diane Von Furstenberg, Clara Kuo, and Svetlana Kuzmicheva-Uspenskaya. Koons also made nine unique wall sculptures called Birkin Bag (Shelf) that also feature Hermes bags donated by famous and fabulous people like Marc Jacobs, Naomi Campbell, Sofia Coppola, and more. The series benefits Project Perpetual, which helps provide children around the world with life-saving vaccines. If you can’t afford a Koons (Gazing Ball (Charity) went for a cool $4 million bucks), check out the “Vaccinate” tee shirt–which has already been worn by Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, and Victoria Beckham.
