NYFW Fall 2013: Jeremy Scott, Nanette Lepore, Elizabeth & James, Milly by Michelle Smith
Jeremy Scott: The designer's latest offering was typically Scott. Googley cartoon eyes, exploding brains, and pithy graphic t-shirts—"Adults Suck, Then You Are One," "Too Weird To Live"—abounded. The imagery was inspired, Scott said, by West Coast skate culture and a generalized adolescent perspective on the world. Ironically, Scott brought a very adult kind of discipline to exploring that kind of anti-establishment juvenilia. His collection was very coherent, ranging from red plaid pleated pants like punks used to wear to pendant necklaces that bore the anarchy symbol. These clothes invite you to look, then say, "What are you looking at?"
NYFW Fall 2013: Rodarte, Jenny Packham, Rolando Santana, J.Crew
Rodarte: Kate and Laura Mulleavy didn't have to look far for their Fall '13 inspiration. The sister duo nodded to sunny Santa Cruz, their Cali hometown, with models stomping out in eighties-era get-ups amid a setting of neon light sticks. As for those rave-friendly splashes of light, a fun catwalk setting for a label that usually goes very bare-bones on the ambiance front, to be sure, but also another nod to their West Coast roots: the Giant Dipper roller coaster. Naturally, there were tie-dye satin gowns (outfitted here with 3-D foam bodices), hip-baring bodysuits worn under jean shorts and...
Getting Sweaty With Betsey!
Betsey Johnson's baaaaaack! She channeled all things aerobics-y in the most eighties, delightfully campy fashion possible for Fall '13... You worked out on the runway. When I was doing my reality show, I realized that I gotta move! I started working out with a trainer, but I realized that I like dancercise more than the treadmill.
NYFW Fall 2013: Yigal Azrouël, Tocca, rag & bone, Tommy Hilfiger Men's, Sally LaPointe
Yigal Azrouël: Sexy, tailored options abounded for Fall, like trim dresses with daring slits alongside boxy jackets and skinny pants. Fur added a touch of luxe, and the collection included several cute, fur-collared anoraks—a style staple that seemed extra appropriate given that Azrouël showed just as a massive blizzard threatened to paralyze the Northeast. Ponyhair and leather also lent texture, in the form of panels on dresses and sleeves. The collection was mostly black, and it looked sleek and dangerous—like a beautiful woman who may do us harm, according to the designer. "If we touch her, we could get...
NYFW Fall 2013: Jason Wu, Chadwick Bell, Suno, Cushnie et Ochs
Jason Wu: Think a gust of chilly temps and freezing sleet will keep the sartorial set at bay? Not a chance. Fashion’s upper echelon braved the climes (in five inch, heels no less) to pack into Jason Wu’s Park Ave. show on Friday afternoon. “The first thing I thought when I woke up was, Is there a snow day?’ But nothing was canceled. That’s so New York; so New York Fashion Week,†said Girls starlet Allison Williams, perched front row, as was Stephanie Seymour, with her Brant boys in tow. And if it was a show they came for,...
NYFW Fall 2013: Creatures of the Wind, Timo Weiland, Kimberly Ovitz, BCBGMAXAZRIA
Creatures of the Wind: Sophisticated layered separates was the general M.O. for Creatures of the Wind this season, comprised of boxy jackets, tailored pants, kicky little skirts with inverted box pleats, and lots of leather. The inspirations ranged from fifties Teddy Boys to eighties post-modern furniture design collective the Memphis Group, whose influence showed perhaps most strongly in a brightly colored jacquard that bore a kind of broken-looking pattern. There were athletic touches, too, evident in stripes on the sleeve of a jacket, front zipper closures on several collared shirts, and contrasting white trim of a deep V-neck top....

Marc-iest Marc! Duffy Unveils Big Plans for Jacobs and Vuitton
At last, at last! Robert Duffy has confirmed the good (no, great) news for Marc-iphiles about town: Marc Jacobs will, in fact, open up a collection boutique at 909 Madison Avenue (at 73rd Street).
