Straight From South Korea: Seoul Fashion Week Kicks Off

by The Daily Front Row

Just when you thought fashion month had wrapped and Spring ’14 had run its course…Your Daily jetted off to South Korea for Seoul Fashion Week! Today was the first slew of catwalks, and the blokes stole the spotlight for most of day une‘s shows to start things off. It’s been barely 24 hours on Korean soil, and our features editor Alexandra Ilyashov has already eaten multiple bowls of bibimbap, moseyed around a palace, and witnessed a very high-altitude runway setup. The venue for the latter? The 54th floor of Seoul’s sleek IFC complex (which stands for International Fashion Centre, not the Independent Film Channel, cinephiles!). First up, the pattern-happy, logo-bedecked looks of Unbounded Awe. Quite a deep-sounding label name, non? The coed collection involved a B&W scheme, kaleidescopic motifs in the vein of Mary Katrantzou, squishy (looking and sounding) Teva-type, intentionally-ugly flatforms for both sexes, and pint-sized shorts for the lads. As in, print-strewn, structured shorties that girlfriends are bound to buy instead of their beaus.
