Shoshanna and Elizabeth Arden Wine And Dine

by Alexandra Ilyashov

Did Midsummer come a couple days early? It certainly looked that way at last night’s girly, flower-flooded Shoshanna din at Il Principe’s rooftop, unveiled for the occasion, to celebrate Shoshanna Gruss’ debut collab with Elizabeth Arden. Gruss rounded up her coterie of gal pals, like Charlotte Ronson, Olivia Palermo, Nicky Hilton, Eleanor Ylvisaker, Valerie Boster, and Dani Stahl, plus a great mishmash of fashion and beauty eds. The crowd started off with a glass or three of prosecco and, for the sweets obsessed, candy from Sugarfina. Then, it was time to nosh as the sun set, toasting Gruss’ pretty new cases for Elizabeth Arden while donning floral wreaths in their coifs (those beaut blooms are from Crowns by Christy, BTW). The main conundrum of the evening, besides figuring out how to Instagram those bud-studded tresses while drinking vino, was deciding what to order. Many chicsters went with kale, shaved fennel, and Marcona almond salads, followed by Branzino avec tomato confit and asparagus; charred octopus avec cubes of sweet potato, steak strewn with parmesan and set atop green beans, eggplant parm, and farro fusilli made the supper selection all the trickier. As the deck doors of the Hugo Hotel’s rooftop were unfurled to allow for some open-air gazing at the Hudson post-sunset, wine glasses filled with berries or tiramisu made the rounds. Quite an apropos bash for the frock maven’s latest endeavor.
